Hi all,
We took a break from beginning our new unit of the Reading Street curriculum but continued talking about all the changes the children are noticing around them. Changes in nature and changes with themselves (wiggly teeth, missing teeth, new shoes because feet are growing). We read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff and Mind Your Manners by Nicole Edwards.
We also read White Rabbit's Color Book by Alan Baker. A white rabbit comes across 3 tubs of paint...red, yellow and blue. The rabbit finds out what happens when these colors are mixed together. The children LOVED this story. At the Project Table, we had the same colors of paint available and the children did marble painting. They used a spoon to pick up a marble from the paint, drop it in a box containing their paper and then were able to move the box around to see what happened.
We listened to Picture Day Perfection by Deborah Diesen. Picture Day went very well!
We reviewed letters N and M this week. Talking about the sound each makes and practicing writing them.
Other activities included:
Art Easel: Spring worksheets and water color markers
Sensory Table: Mulch and dinosaurs
Math Table: Animal patten blocks
Writing Table: Different scissors, hole punchers, spring tape, strips of paper
Looking ahead:
Show & Tell for letter W will be on Wednesday.
Have a good night!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
