Good afternoon Mixed age families! I hope that you are all able to enjoy the beautiful weather today! This week the mixed age class learned about the letter V and we sure did have some creative show and tell items. Next week's letter of the week will be W. Picture days both Wednesday and Thursday were a success, everyone looked so wonderful! Here is a look at what we did in class this week:
The art table: Here the children made their own umbrellas out of paper plates and construction paper, and then fingerpainted a rainy back drop. These are now adorning the bulletin board in the hallway.
The discovery center: here each child was able to plant their own marigold seeds. These will remain in the classroom where the children will be able to water them daily and watch them grow. Once they start to bloom these will be sent home. The discovery center also included STEM skoolzy straws on Friday. These were such a hit that they will now be added to the classroom's block area!
At the writing table: we colored Spring theme coloring pages and practice name writing and writing the letter V.
At the math table the children matched rubber ducks to numbered lily pads.
At the easel we finished up our self-portraits for the upcoming art show and watercolor painted rainy day coloring pages.
The sensory table now contains purple kinetic sand, beach toys, and Easter eggs! This has been one of the most popular sensory tables we have had this year!
Playdough is now yellow and banana scented, and is accompanied by Easter themed accessories.
The books we read in class this week included:
Don't Touch That Flower!
The Tiny Seed
Plant the Tiny Seed
How Does a Seed Sprout?
We had a wonderful time in class this week and cant wait to see you all back again next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
