Check Out What We Did This Week in Mixed Age!

Good afternoon Mixed Age families,

This week the class had tons of fun learning about Spring and continued to work hard on their learning and their projects for the upcoming art show. We discussed what it means to be a kind friend, how to share, and the importance of taking care of each other and ourselves.  This week they learned about the letter W, and next week we will be focusing on the letter X. We also celebrated two friends' birthday this week! Here is a look at what we did in class this:

The art table: The children painted marble Easter bunnies and glued on cotton ball tails. We also finished forming our pinch pots which will be painted next week.

The discovery center: included a building and stacking activity that utilized Easter eggs and blue playdough.

The math table: included a bouquet of numbered "flowers" where the children were able to count beads and add them to the flower stems.

The writing table offered letter W writing boards, coloring pages, and free draw.

The art easel: here the kids worked hard on a still life painting that will be on display during the art show. These came out awesome and it was so great to see how unique they all were.

The books we read in class this week included:

                                    Fair Shares

                                    Lola Plants a Garden

                                    Worm Weather

We also had a visit from Mrs. T. this past Thursday, where the children sang along with her and Pete the Cat to Spring themed songs and listened to another fun story. She also sang happy Birthday with the class to our two birthday kiddos! This week we had a blast in the classroom and were glad to be able to get outside most days. I hope that you all get a chance to get outside this weekend as well, despite the rainy weather! Have an amazing weekend, and we will see you all again next week!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
