Embracing the Chill in Mixed Age!
Good evening, everyone and happy Friday!
I hope that everyone has enjoyed their week so far! This week the mixed age classroom was very busy! Today in school we had a fire drill, and everyone did a great job getting outside quickly and safely. We then had a visit from Mrs. T. who provided us with fun winter themed songs, stories, and dances. This week we focused on the letter K and next week's letter will be L. Here is a look at what the mixed age class did this week.
The art table included snowflake coloring pages and dot markers, as well as a name snowman activity that will be up in the classroom for open house!
The art easel continued to hold water color painting and coloring sheets.
The writing table was filled with name practicing and creative drawing through the use of blank pages and various coloring/writing utensils, as well as The Snowy Day themed coloring pages.( We read this story to both classes on Monday and Tuesday.
The math table remained the same as last week as it was a short week and utilized the penguin scale for number recognition and matching.
The discovery center had the pretend snow and polar animals for the first half of the week and was then replaced by kaleidoscopes in recognition of the letter of the week.
The books we read this week included the following, in addition to the stories from Mrs. T :
The Snowy Day
Snowball
The mixed age classroom had a wonderful first full week back at school. Next week I will be out as my family and I will be on vacation, but Mrs. Haynes will be in, and I will be back the following week. I will miss everyone, and I look forward to seeing you all again soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
