Joyful January Moments in 5 Day Pre-K!
Hello,
We fit a lot into our 4 days of school this week! We had a lot of fun playing in the snow at recess this week. The children enjoyed shoveling, using the sleds, making snow angels and running around in the snow. It was the first time of putting the snow gear on at school (twice in one day!) and everyone did a good job.
You may have heard, our Reading Street Book this week was Miss Mary Mack by Mary Ann Hoberman & Nadine Bernard Westcott. This sing along book was a hit! The children also learned the clapping game to go along with this rhyme.
We also read Be Patient, Maddie, If You Give A Dog a Donut and listened to the story We Are The Dinosaurs and then danced to the song.
Our Letter of the Week was D. Our song was Did Old Dandy Dog Dig in the Dirt?
Other activities in our classroom this week were:
Discovery: Recycling activity
Project Table: D is for Dog......the children could create a dog after using pieces to make the letter D.
We also painted snowmen. These will be on display on the bulletin board outside of our classroom. So much creativity!
Art Easel: Water color dinosaurs and white paper for free art
Math Table: The light table and shapes to sort and make patterns with. The light table was also used by the doctors at the Pretend Center to view x-rays!
Listening Center: How Do Dinosaurs Go To School by Jane Yolen.
Looking ahead our Letter of the Week will be P. Show & Tell will be on Wednesday.
Valentine's Day Info ❤
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day at school on Friday, February 14th. We will be exchanging valentines in our classroom. We have 9 children in our class. As far as delivering cards it is easiest if you send in the valentines just signed by who it is from and leave the "to" blank. We are a nut-free school and are asking that food and candy not be sent with the valentines. Stickers, tattoos, pencils, etc are a good alternative if you would like.
Also, please send in a Valentine mailbox for your child. The children can make this out of a box (tissue box/shoebox) or bag. Please make sure to put your child's name on their mailbox. Feel free to even put their picture on it. Have fun making it!
Also, Jack and Jill's Open House is TOMORROW, SATURDAY JANUARY 25th from 9:30-11:30 if you or anyone you know is interested in stopping by! I would love to see you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
