Look What We Did This Week in 5 Day Pre-K!

Hi All,

Don't miss your last chance to support Jack & Jill Pre-School! Purchase a raffle calendar for just $10.  The raffle drawings begin on April 1st with daily chances to win great prizes.

Thank you very much for taking the time for Conferences on Tuesday. It was nice to be able to sit down and talk about your children and all of the progress they have each made so far this year. Again, if there are any questions or concerns at any time please do not hesitate to reach out.

Our Reading Street Book this week was Growing Like Me by Anne Rockwell. "Everything in nature grows up-just like you and me! It's springtime, and the local pond is bursting with new life. Shiny black pollywogs are growing into frogs and baby robins hatch from pale blue eggs. The blackberry bushes are full of sweet, juicy berries and the new monarch butterflies emerge from their cocoons." Our vocabulary words were blossoms, hatch, caterpillar, growing, pollywog and pond. We talked a lot about the changes we will be seeing as the weather gets warmer. I told the children to look around outside to see what is changing.

Our Reading Street Song was I Am Growing.

We also read Be Honest, Jess by Molly Smith and Spring Changes by Ellen Sensi.

Our Letter of the Week was N. Our Letter Sound Song was On a November, Night, Night, Night.

Other activities included:

Project Table:  Free art to start the week.

Materials to create a nest.  These came out great with each child creating something different!

Art Easel:  We were still talking about what we look like and self portraits were still being created.

Math Table: Link counting

Sensory Table:  Mulch and dinosaurs

Listening Center: Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynolds

Discovery Table:  Microscopes were availabe to check out slides. We also started a Plantarium Garden.  Using space age growing gel we planted seeds to germinate. These included basil, tomato and cucumber seeds. The first week these needed to be kept in the dark so we put them in the closet in our classroom.  We will remove them next week and move them into the sunlight.

Looking ahead to this week:

We will be reviewing letters M & N. For Show & Tell on Wednesday, your child can bring in one item that begins with either M or N.

Picture Day for our class will be on Thursday, April 3rd.

If you are looking for something fun to do next weekend, the Family Fun Fair is happening on Saturday, April 5th from 9:30-11:30.  The fair is a free event and will be located at Attleboro High School-Cafeteria (enter through the back of the school).

See you in the morning!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelley
