October is Almost Over in Enrichment!
Good afternoon Enrichment families!
We had another wonderful week in Enrichment! On Monday we had a visit from the dentist. We learned how to keep our teeth healthy, which keeps our whole body healthy! On Wednesday we continued karate with Sensei Michael. Be sure to ask your child what he is teaching us, they really love their time with him! Today we introduced the class to a carved pumpkin named Jack! Pumpkin Jack was placed in a special container with some dirt and leaves. He will stay with us for the rest of the school year! We will get to watch the entire pumpkin life cycle as the pumpkin decomposes over the winter, sprouts leaves in the spring, and then grows flowers that will eventually become pumpkins! Ask your child about Jack and pumpkin life cycle!
Important information for next week:
We will be doing some special pumpkin themed activities on Monday, however we do not allow Halloween costumes or candy in school.
What’s new this week?
Book- Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins by James Dean. Ask your child to sing the pumpkin song Pete taught us! We also read Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell.
Art- We used stickers to make our own five little pumpkins on a fence! We also used puffy paint to make Jack-o-lantern faces, which are hanging up in the hallway.
Easel- Using paint sticks, we painted Pete the Cat with his pumpkins. The paint sticks were a big hit!
Math- Roll and color pumpkin game. After rolling a die, the children matched that number to a number on the paper and colored them in.
Writing- We are getting lots of cutting practice at the writing table by trying to cut along dotted lines on pieces of paper with pumpkins and ghosts on them.
Enjoy the gorgeous weather and have a great weekend!
