Our Last Full Week in Pre-K 2!

Hello Pre K Families,

We had a FANTASTIC talent show on Tuesday!! They were all so excited to show their classmates a special talent.

This week was all about the magnificent author Eric Carle!

Two days of Pre-K left and I can’t believe it, this year has flown by faster than ever!

Dramatic Play- Home, baby care.

Art Easel- Painting butterflies with water colors.

Discovery Table- Building with magnets.

Art Center- On Monday and Tuesday, the children were asked to paint paper with all different colors and then add texture to the painting by dragging different utensils over it. This is the effect that Author Eric Carle uses to illustrate his books. His technique uses tissue paper, but I have tried it in a classroom and little hands painting tissue can tear the tissue easily. I explained to the children that Mr. Carle paints the paper then traces something he drew onto the paper and cuts it out for his story. Wednesday and Thursday we traced different animals and scenery, to create an Eric Carle inspired work of art!! I love this project so much and the creations were amazing !

Books this week were all by Eric Carle. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Mixed up Chameleon , Have You Seen My Cat and The Grouchy Ladybug.

Most of our class caterpillars have emerged from their chrysalis and turned into butterflies. This was very exciting for the children to see! When we left Thursday there was one just starting to break out! We will set them free on Tuesday!

*****Tuesday show and tell will be… Bring in your favorite stuffed animal to tell us about! We will be having a teddy bear lunch outside with our stuffed friends on Tuesday. Please also have your child bring a beach towel to sit on outside- !! Also of for this day you could you please pack an easy to eat outside lunch! Bento boxes still work, but please no cereal, or hard to manage items. Thank you!!

Have a great long weekend!

Miss Pascal & Mrs. Taylor
