Saying Goodbye to March in Enrichment!
Hi everyone,
March has come to an end in Enrichment. We wrapped up Music in our Schools Month with another new instrument, to most kids. My flute "Goldilocks" came out today for the first time in a LONG time for the children to listen to and experiment with. If anyone runs into my former flute teacher (or my mother for that matter) please don't show them these pictures, as they'd be appalled by my posture. You've got to do what you've got to do to let the kids play, right!?! Lol!
Our book this week was The Jazz Fly by Matthew Gollub. A book about a Jazz drumming fly who needs help finding his way to the Jazz Club. Some animal friends help him to find his way, but they also help him find a new groove! We listened to the author read the story, along with his own friends playing The Jazz Fly soundtrack.
What was NEW in centers?
Art- Using forks and yellow paint the children made chicks, which are hanging in the hallway.
Easel- Piano keyboard coloring- Practicing our letters, and coloring the keys at the same time!
Math- Shape pictures- Moving around different shapes to make a picture or design.
Discovery- We experimented with sunshine and prisms to make rainbows
Sensory table- We now have a blooming garden in our sensory table! With pots, tools, and blooms their little green thumbs are shining through!
All these, in addition to the block area, pretend center, library, playdough, and writing table leave lots of room for discovery!
We're starting Yoga next Tuesday, so please send the kiddos in wearing something comfortable that they can move and stretch in! Thanks!
We hope you all have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Christina Renoni, Erica Derbyshire, and Ashlee Taylor
