The 5 Day Pre-K Weekly Scoop!
Hello Families,
What a busy week we have had! We had our first Community Helper come to visit. On Wednesday, Miss Shayla from Attleboro Pediatric Dentistry came in to talk to us about taking care of our teeth. She showed instruments she uses to do her job and read us the book Dentists and What They Do by Liesbet Slegers.
On Friday, we were very lucky to have a visit with Mrs. T. For those of you unfamiliar with Mrs. T, she has been a monthly visitor to Jack and Jill for years. She provides wonderful stories and songs and is always a hit with the children! We had a lot of fun singing and dancing along with her.
This week our Reading Street Book was Homes A to Z by Judy Nayer. This book was about all different houses people live in all around the world. We talked about what our houses look like and which homes in the book we would like to live in. I told the children to keep their eyes open when they are in the car to look for tall apartment buildings, older style homes, new modern homes, houses with stone, farms, log cabins and motor homes. Our Reading Street song was I Live In A Castle. Our vocabulary words were castle, carpets, cave, farm, jungle and row.
We listened to How Do Dinosaurs Go To School? and read How Do Dinosaurs Stay Friends? We voted on which book each child liked better. How Do Dinosaurs Stay Friends won with 6 votes.
Our Letter Sound Song was Way Up High.
Our Centers this week:
Writing Table: H Worksheets, H Letter Hunt, paper, scissors and writing tools
Discovery Table: We explored our sense of touch with a touch and match guessing game. We talked about the different textures we were feeling.
Math Table: Fall Patterns-the children worked at looking at the pattern on the card and figuring out which item would come next in the pattern.
Art Easel: We had Apple Dot Art.
Art Table: H is for Heart. The children created the Letter H and then decorated it using all different heart material: stickers, stamps and jewels. We also made scarecrows which will be on display on our Bulletin Board in the hallway. Each one is different and wonderful!
Sensory Table: It was last week of our Construction Site in our Sensory Table. This was popular from the first day I changed it right up to Friday. It was so nice to see all the children enjoying it so much.
Looking ahead there is no school on Monday. Our Letter of the Week will be T. Show & Tell will be on Wednesday.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
