The First Day is the 3's!

Good afternoon everyone!

If you haven't heard all about the first day of school from your little one, we're here to fill you in with an email at the end of their week.

They all did so well today! We're so proud of all of them, as they should be of themselves. School is a new experience for all the whole class, and one without their favorite people (you). It's an adjustment for everyone (parents included), but they all had a successful day! We can't wait to spend more time with them and get to know them better!

I have a little bit of housekeeping to take care of before I dive into the fun things of today.

There are a few things we need from you.

1. Pull ups- If your child wears them, please bring in extras that open/close on the sides in a bag with their name on it.

2. Extra clothes- Thank you to those who brought in a spare set of clothes already. If you haven't, please bring them in a bag with your child's name on it.

3. Pictures- Please respond to this email with a picture of your child that will be used around the classroom, and on various projects during the year.

4. Layers- Our classroom gets very warm no matter the season, so please dress your child in layers, especially when the temperature starts to fall. Now, I can appreciate that they are 2 and 3 years old and want to make their own choices when it comes to getting themselves dressed. We just ask that you do what you can. 😉

Okay, now that that's out of the way...

We can tell this is a class that loves reading! Our book today was Pete the Kitty's First Day of Preschool by Kimberly and James Dean. We did lots of dancing to some familiar songs to some (In Summer and Mary Had a Little Lamb) and new ones to some (We Are the Dinosaurs, which I think is going to become a class favorite).

Our centers for today were the same as what you saw for Orientation Day. It was important for them to know what to expect coming into the classroom. Next week we'll have some new things, and some things will be the same.

Art Table- First day of school and Kind to the core coloring pages

Easel- Crayons and easel paper

Math Table- Color sorting bears and bowls

Pretend Center- Dishes, cups, silverware, and pretend food

Block Area- Wooden blocks, light up legos, wooden people, fire trucks, babies, and Potato Heads

Writing Table- Apple tree and school maze coloring

Sensory Table- Corn with big and small cups, big and small tubes, and spoons

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out and we'll get back to you ASAP. If you ever have anything that needs to be addressed during the school day please email Mrs. Lay or call the school. As I'm sure you can appreciate, Mrs. Taylor and I need to keep our eyes on the children at all times when they're with us.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing you all again next Thursday!

Warmly,

Christina Renoni and Ashlee Taylor
