Week 7 in 3's
NEXT Friday, October 30th will be BLACK and ORANGE Day! Students are invited to wear orange, black or other fall colors (No Halloween costumes please).
We had lots of fun IN and OUT of the classroom this week. Some new recess favorites are selling pretend ice cream and popcorn from the balcony of the play structure, playing with the big marble-run and playing in the LEAVES! See attached for some recess pictures!
This week at CIRCLE TIME we read Pete the Cat: 5 Little Pumpkins. We danced with scarves during music and movement. We also learned the 5 Little Pumpkins fingerplay. Ask your child if they remember any of it! The words are below:
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,
The first one said, “Oh my it’s getting late!”
The second one said, “There are witches in the air.”
The third one said “But we don’t care!”
The fourth one said, “Let’s run and run and run.”
The fifth one said, “I’m ready for some fun!”
Oooooooooo went the wind, and out went the lights,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
Here is what’s NEW in centers:
Art: Children used corks to dot-paint pumpkins and fall leaves. The boys and girls seem to enjoy trying out new painting materials! We also had Pete the Cat coloring pages available. We encourage all students to try art projects. Some kiddos prefer not to do messy stuff such as painting and shaving cream. This is OKAY! We always have alternative art materials on hand such as paper, stickers, crayons and markers. Each child has his/her own bin for art supplies.
Sensory Bins: Time for a treasure hunt! We added black and orange gems to the macaroni bins this week.
Playdough: Mini plastic pumpkins were added to their bins this week. They really enjoy hiding the pumpkins in the playdough and digging them out with their fingers. This is a GREAT opportunity for the children to strengthen their hands and fingers.
Block Bins: Wooden school buses and little people were added to this center. The boys and girls also seem to be really interested in DINOSAURS, so we put some dinosaurs in this center as well. Today they wanted to look at the dinosaur book and try to match the dinosaur toys with the pictures. We also found out that some of the dinosaur toys glow in the dark!!
Have a great weekend! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
Your teachers,
Brenda Daday & Christina Renoni
