Weekly Highlights in Mixed Age!
Good afternoon Mixed Age Families and happy Saturday!
I apologize for the delay in getting this week's newsletter to you. This past week of school was so much fun where each day was filled with happiness and learning. The letter of the week was I and next week the letter will be J. I cannot believe next week will be the last week of school before Christmas vacation! This week we had music with Mrs. on Monday and the children had such a blast listening to her stories and singing along to Christmas songs with her. Here is a look at what we did in centers throughout the week:
At the discovery table we had two activities. The first activity included filling ornaments with pom poms by using tweezers, and the second activity was making holiday bracelets with pipe cleaners, red, white and green pony beads, and small jingle bells.
The art easel consisted of a decorate your own ornament activity that included holiday themed stamps and stickers, as well as markers, crayons and colored pencils.
The math table included a penguin scale game where the children were able to place a weighted number on one side and the correct number of corresponding penguins on the other side. Everyone really enjoyed this activity!
At the writing table this week we had free writing and drawing, and we also used writing trays filled with holiday colored sprinkles where the children were able to use their fingers to draw the letter I!
For art this week we made Christmas light suncatchers, fingerprint Christmas lights, and we painted our own marble Christmas lights as well! The children were all very busy this week and got a lot done!
This week the stories we read were:
Santa's Suit- read by Mrs. T
How to Catch Santa Claus
The Magical Toy Box
We had a wonderful week here at Jack and Jill and I am hoping that all of you have a weekend that is just as fun! Next week we will be having our class Polar Express parties on both Tuesday and Wednesday. On these days everyone can wear their pajamas! I would also like to remind everyone that as the weather has been very cold as of late, we ask that everyone please send their children in with the appropriate attire for outdoor time. Included in this we do ask that your children come to school with mittens rather than gloves, as we encourage everyone to attempt to put on their own winter attire. We do help most friends to get ready after they first try themselves, and it saves a lot of time not having to navigate many small fingers into gloves. We thank you very much for your patience and understanding! Have a great weekend, and we will see you all again next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
