Weekly Update from Pre-K 2!

Good afternoon Pre-K 2 families,

We had a lot of fun playing in the snow on Monday. The children also made some really great connections between their outdoor play and what we have learned through our Water and Ice Unit. We also had a visit from our guest reader, Mrs. Lehane. She read us a silly story called No More Water in the Tub! by Tedd Arnold. That’s for visiting Mrs. Lehane!

Looking ahead to Valentine’s Day:

-On Tuesday, February 14th we will be having a special snack to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet in the hallway for snack items if you’d like to donate.

-The children will also be decorating mail bags in school. Your child may bring in valentines to deliver to their friends if they’d like.

-We have 12 children total in our class.

-IMPORTANT: No food can be included with the valentines.

-Valentines should be brought to school on Tuesday, 2/14

- Please do not write the names of individual children on the cards, only sign the “from” portion. This will make delivering easier.

- Any questions? Feel free to reach out! Thanks!

This week at MORNING MEETING:

Stories: "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats

Book Skills Focus: What is the title of the book? What clues does the cover give you about what the title is?

Skills: using the Handwriting without Tears wood pieces to build Mat Man

Seeds of STEM: We helped Panda out with another problem. Ask your child how we helped Panda. The focus this week was on the BRAINSTORMING step of the problem solving process. The kiddos came up with some great ideas and had to decide whether or not they were TESTABLE.

Here's what's happening at CENTERS:
