Welcoming March in Mixed Age!

Good evening Mixed Age Families,

This week the mixed age class explored the world of Dr.Seuss, the letter R, and the coming of spring. Next week's letter of the week will be the letter S. We had a wonderful time in class cooking with Mrs. Grace this Friday; this time the children made banana pancakes! The pancakes were loved by all and everyone really enjoyed being able to take part in creating them and eating them! Here is a look at our centers this past week:

The art Table: the children practiced working with patterns and writing the letters of their names while creating a cat and the hat, hat!

The writing table: included gel writing boards for the letter R, Dr.Seuss coloring pages, chalk boards, and free draw.

The playdough table: offered new green playdough that is mint scented, accompanied by St. Patrick's day themed cookie cutters- we also used shaving cream on Monday and Tuesday this week.

The math table included math puzzles with numbered pieces and pieces with images of various everyday objects.

At the easel the children were able to design their own new hats for The Cat! They really enjoyed this activity!

At the discovery center we built all sorts of creative things using toothpicks and Mini marshmallows.

Our dramatic play center has been very busy and now includes a Veterinary hospital.

The books we read in class this week included:

                                    The Cat and the Hat

                                    Go, Dogs,Go

                                    Dr.Seuss's Book of Colors

We had two birthday celebrations this week and loved being able to celebrate with the class! I hope that everyone has an enjoyable, peaceful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next week.

P.S. We ask that if you send your child with a food item for either lunch or snack that requires a utensil that you please send it with them into class, as we have had an increasing number of children without spoons, forks, and napkins. We do not mind supplying these for the children but encourage that they do come with their own to facilitate independence and confidence! As always, we thank you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
