Welcoming March in the 3's

Good afternoon 3’s families,

Happy March! What a fun week! The children really enjoyed our dinosaur activities and Crazy Hair Day was super fun! We also had lots of outdoor time. Be sure to check out the attached recess photos.

This week at CIRCLE TIME,

· We read Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs by Byron Barton. This was a great book to introduce our dinosaur theme.

· We danced with scarves during music and movement.

What’s new in CENTERS this week?

Art: Students used paint and paint brushes to paint baby T-Rex dinosaurs. Each child picked their own color. They came out great! They also worked together to paint a BIG dinosaur with dot markers.

Discovery Bins: Fine motor practice this week. Children used different shaped keys to unlock treasure chests. They put the matching color coins and treasure in the chests and then locked them up tight. Holding and manipulating the keys is not easy. The kiddos showed great determination during this task.

Green Bins: Dinosaurs, plastic trees, paper ponds and landscape blocks were added to this center.

Yellow Bins: Letter matching practice at this center. The boys and girls matched letters on dinosaurs to the matching eggs. We are starting with the first letters in their first names: A, E, H, J, M, S, Z. They are starting to recognize the letters in their names which is amazing! We often hear the children find the first letter of their name in other printed materials/labels in the classroom. This is a GREAT start to identifying the letters in the alphabet. Great job boys and girls!

Red Bins: There are community helper vehicles and princesses in this center.

Pretend Center: This center is now a PIZZA and SANDWICH SHOP! This was a big hit! The children loved making pizzas and sandwiches and selling them to friends and teachers.

Next Friday, 3/11 is Pajama Day! Please send your child in pjs that they can manage independently in the bathroom. Tops and bottoms are better than onesie-style for bathroom purposes. Have a wonderful weekend!

Your teachers,

Brenda Daday & Christina Renoni
