Winter Fun Continues in Mixed Age!
Hello Mixed Age Families,
We had another great week this week! The children are doing a great job with our letter of the week! They have started going on letter hunts around the classroom to find the letter of the week. This is going to help them next year with letter identification and letter sounds. Show and tell was also very fun. Our letter of the week next week will be the letter D. Please send in one show and tell item either Tuesday or Wednesday that starts with the letter D.
You may have noticed a new face in the classroom with us this week. I am happy to announce that Ms. Jill Meyer will be our new Mixed Age teacher! Ms. Meyer has been working with young children for over 20 years both in her home and in child care centers. She is the mom to 3 children. She has been getting to know the classroom routine, the children and the school this past week. The children have loved getting to know her and seem comfortable with her already! She will work with me and Mrs. Deighan for all of next week. The week of the 29th she will officially take over as the teacher in the classroom. I will continue to be in there to support Ms. Meyer and the children.
Here is a look at our busy week!
Mrs. T came to sing with us on the snow Tuesday! We had fun singing about sledding, Frosty and boots!
Mat Man is a part of the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum and we tried it out this week. We listen to a song and each child has a piece of Mat Man whether it be his smile, his hands, etc. They need to listen carefully so that they know when to place their piece down. They did amazing! It was lots of fun and the children asked to keep building Mat Man!
We read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a Dog a Donut by Laura Numeroff this week! The multiple reads has been going great and the children are really excited for story time!
